It’s a simple and quick project, perfect for using up small amounts of yarn. Whether your bunny is joining in on trick-or-treat fun or just staying cozy at home, this cardigan will add a touch of handmade charm to the season.

Note
The cardigan is knitted flat, starting from the bottom of the back panel. From there, you’ll cast on extra stitches for the sleeves, bind off in the middle to shape the collar, and continue knitting to the front sides. The buttonhole is added afterward, and the side and underarm seams are sewn together.
To finish, I added a crochet embroidery edge for a handmade touch, and two little pumpkin buttons I crafted myself — just to bring in that cozy Halloween spirit.

Finishing
Fold both front panels toward the front, and sew the side seams and underarm seams together neatly.

To add the crochet embroidery edge on the hem:
Insert your crochet hook into the first stitch along the hem of the front panel and make one slip stitch to secure the yarn.
Chain 5 stitches, then insert the hook into the second stitch of the hem and make another slip stitch.
Repeat this pattern (5 chain stitches + 1 slip stitch into every 2nd stitch) until you reach the end.
Next, bring the yarn to the row just above the purl row on the hem. Work one chain stitch for each knit stitch to create a decorative line, then weave in the loose ends.
Repeat the same process for the collar and sleeves if you’d like — I personally skipped the lines there for a cleaner look.
Button Hole
Mark the position of each buttonhole and pin it in place with a safety pin.

From the back side of the fabric, insert your yarn needle into the hole, bring the yarn to the front, and tighten 2–3 vertical stitches on both the top and bottom of the buttonhole.
Repeat a few loops for extra security, then tie a small knot on the back and trim the excess yarn.

Each buttonhole will have two reinforced loops — one on the top and one on the bottom. This is a simple and effective method, though you can make it neater by wrapping the yarn all around the buttonhole if you prefer.

Pumpkin Buttons
I added two little pumpkin buttons I crafted myself — just to bring in that cozy Halloween spirit. If you are interested in making one yourself, here's the link.

And that’s it — your Jellycat bunny’s Halloween cardigan is ready! 🎃
I hope you enjoy knitting this as much as I did. If you make one, I’d love to see your version — share it on Instagram and tag @moumou_knits so I can admire your spooky-cute creations! 🧡
